Tiksi Bay

 

an inlet of the Laptev Sea, situated east of the mouth of the Lena River. Tiksi Bay measures 21 km in length and 17 km in width at the entrance. The northern shore is composed of loose rocks and fossil ice. The bay is frozen from October through July. Tides are semidiurnal, with a range of 0.3 m. Tiksi Bay is economically important as a transshipment point for oceangoing and river vessels of the Northern Sea Route. The port of Tiksi is on its western shore.
