People’s Assembly of North Korea

 

the highest body of people’s power in North Korea from February 1947 to August 1948.

At the first session of the assembly, in February 1947, the People’s Committee of North Korea was formed. In November 1947 the assembly adopted a resolution on the drafting of a constitution, which was adopted, after a nationwide discussion, by the first session of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the. Korean Democratic People’s Republic (KDPR) on Sept. 8, 1948. After the elections for the Supreme People’s Assembly of the KDPR, the People’s Assembly relinquished its authority.
