Stanojević, Stanoje

 

Born Aug. 12, 1874, in Novi Sad; died July 20, 1937, in Vienna. Serbian historian. Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences from 1933.

Stanojevié studied at universities in Austria, Germany, and Russia. In 1900 he became a docent and in 1903 a professor of Serbian history at the Great School in Belgrade (university since 1905). He fought in the Balkan Wars of 1912–13 and World War I (1914–18) and was a member of the Serbian delegation at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919–20. In 1927 he became chairman of the Yugoslav Historical Society.

Stanojevic’s works deal primarily with the medieval history of Serbia. Stanojevic was the editor of the National Serbo-Croat-Slovenian Encyclopedia (books 1–4; Zagreb, 1925–29).
