Uzatis, Alekseiivanovich
Born Mar. 12 (24), 1814, in the village of Arkhangel’skie Gorodishchi, Stavropol’ District, Simbirsk Province; died Oct. 7 (19), 1875, in St. Petersburg. Russian mining specialist.
Uzatis graduated from the St. Petersburg Institute of the Corps of Mining Engineers in 1835. He was the first in Russia to teach a course on mining (1843). Uzatis was awarded the Demidov Prize of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences in 1844.
