Troop Security

a form of protection provided land and naval forces in combat.

Troop security is organized to prevent surprise enemy attacks and hinder enemy reconnaissance. It is implemented by specially detailed subunits, whose composition depends on their task and the combat situation. Troop security in combat is called combat security, in movement it is known as march security, and in bivouac it is called security at the halt. Regardless of the troop security provided by the senior commander, companies and battalions organize local security and continuous observation of the enemy. March security is carried out by advance, flank, and rear guards and forward, flank, and rear march detachments. Troop security at the halt is implemented by security detachments, outpost supports, sentry posts, and patrol vehicles or foot patrols, and in the navy by patrol vessels, airplanes, and helicopters.
