释义 | Tillett, BenjaminTillett, Benjamin(tĭl`ĭt), 1860–1943, English labor organizer, b. Bristol, England. With Tom Mann and John Burns, he led the dock strike of 1889, the first big step toward industrial unionism in Great Britain. Tillett helped found several labor organizations, including the Dockers' Union and the General Federation of Trade Unions. He was a Labour party member of Parliament (1917–24, 1929–31). He wrote Trade Unions and Socialism (1894) and Memories and Reflections (1931). |
