percale[pər′kāl] (textiles) A plain-weave, medium-weight fabric made of cotton or cotton and polyester. Percale a fine cotton fabric with a close weave. Percale, an industrial fabric, is produced with an unpolished finish. It is used in the production of parachutes, by the chemical industry, and in the manufacture of textolite (a fabric dipped in a synthetic resin).
