Ruus al Jibal

 

a peninsula in Asia, at the northeastern end of the Arabian Peninsula. The peninsula is part of Oman and the United Arab Emirates. It lies along the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz. The peninsula is approximately 100 km. The shoreline in the west is low and weakly dissected; a band of coral reefs extends along the coast. The northern and eastern shorelines are indented and often steep. The northeastern end of the Oman Mountains (elevations to 2,194 m) lies within Ruus al Jibal.
