Fedorov, Vasilii Fedorovich
Born 1802; died Mar. 24, 1855. Russian astronomer.
Fedorov graduated from the University of Dorpat (now Tartu) in 1827. Between 1832 and 1837 he determined the geographical coordinates of a number of points in Western Siberia. Beginning in 1837, he was a professor at the University of Kiev, and from 1843 to 1847 he was the university’s rector. The founder and first director of the University of Kiev Observatory, Fedorov conducted observations of the total solar eclipses of 1842 and 1851.
