Production Assets, Agricultural

the means of production used in agriculture. Agricultural production assets include agricultural buildings, structures, installations, equipment, and technology, as well as livestock, seed, feed, and fertilizers.

In the context of the scientific and technological revolution, the proportion of agricultural machinery, equipment, mineral fertilizers, and feed in agricultural production assets increases most rapidly. Agricultural production assets have increased on the basis of the strengthening of the kolkhozes and sovkhozes in the USSR and the strengthening of the production cooperatives and state farms in the foreign socialist countries and as a result of increased capital investments in agriculture. For example, between 1965 and 1973, the agricultural production assets of the USSR (including livestock) increased by a factor of 1.85 (excluding livestock, by a factor of 2.1). The steady growth of agricultural production assets provides the material and technical basis for the industrialization of agriculture, which is associated with the creation of agrarian and industrial conglomerates and the formation of an agrarian and industrial complex within the economy.
