Peretts, Egor Abramovich
Born Jan. 25 (Feb. 6), 1833, in St. Petersburg; died there Feb. 19 (Mar. 3), 1899. Russian government official; representative of the liberal bureaucracy.
Peretts was appointed chief secretary of the Council of State in 1871 and served as secretary of state from 1878 to 1882 and a member of the Council of State from 1883. His Diary (1880–83; published 1927) serves as a valuable source for the study of Russian domestic policy.
