Tozeur

center of a group of oases on the northwestern edge of the Chott Djerid in southwestern Tunisia, in the wilaya of Gafsa. Population, 13,200 (1966). Tozeur has a railroad station. Dates are an item of trade. There is a cottage industry producing silk and woolen articles.
