Rybachii Peninsula
Rybachii Peninsula
a peninsula on the Barents Sea in northwestern Murmansk Oblast, RSFSR; part of the Kola Peninsula. The Rybachii Peninsula is a plateau, which is composed of argillaceous slates, sandstones, and limestones and which at the coast drops abruptly to the sea. The highest elevation is 299 m. Tundra vegetation predominates. Because of the warm North Cape Current, the waters off the Rybachii Peninsula never freeze; they abound with fish, such as capelin and herring.
