Starting Engine
Starting Engine
a carburetor internal-combustion engine primarily used to start high-power diesel engines in tractors. Its power may range between 2 and 15 kW, and the rotation speed of its shaft is 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. The shaft of the starting engine is connected to the shaft of the diesel engine through a reduction gear and is designed to disconnect automatically after the diesel is started. In order to facilitate starting, air fed to the diesel is heated by the exhaust gases of the starting engine, and the cylinder heads and liners are heated by water circulating in a common cooling system.
