Ryn-Peski

 

(also Naryn-Peski), an area of sand hills and bar-chans in the Caspian Lowland, in the Kazakh SSR. Located astride the watershed line between the Volga and Ural rivers, the Ryn-Peski has an area of approximately 40,000 sq km. It is covered with grasses and shrubs. Dry winds and dust storms are typical of the area.
