Severnaia Pochta
(The Northern Post), the name of two Russian newspapers published in the 19th century in St. Petersburg:
(1) A newspaper published from 1809 to 1819 by the Postal Department of the Ministry of the Interior. It was published twice a week and featured material on Russian economic life and foreign news.
(2) A daily newspaper of the Ministry of the Interior published from 1862 to 1868. It published government propaganda and articles critical of the opposition press. It also published court news, government orders, and domestic and foreign business news. In 1869 it was replaced by Pravitel’stvennyi vestnik.
