Absolute Contraindication

A reason for not performing a particular diagnostic or therapeutic procedure which is so compelling that performing the procedure would constitute malpractice.
Examples Exploratory surgery in a patient with terminal cancer, giving aspirin to a child with a viral infection (risk of Reye syndrome)
