Vetka
a city (since 1925) in Gomel’ Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. A landing on the Sozh River, 22 km northeast of Gomel’. Population, 6,200 (1968). Vetka has cotton-spinning and textile factories, an experimental building materials combine, a dairy plant, and other food-industry enterprises. The city was founded at the end of the 17th century.
