Vezhev, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich
Born Aug. 23 (Sept. 5), 1911, in Ust’-Sysol’sk, now Syktyvkar. Soviet literary scholar and critic. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Born into a peasant family.
Vezhev began publishing in 1939. He participated in the Great Patriotic War. He is the author of studies on I. A. Kuratov and on the works of M. N. Lebedev, V. E. El’kin, G. A. Fedorov, V. V. Iukhnin, and other Komi writers, in addition to textbooks on Komi literature (1958 and 1968, in collaboration with A. K. Mikushev). He is one of the authors of the Outline of the History of Komi Literature (1958). Vezhev was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War First Class and medals.
