Superoxol

(in Russian, Perhydrol), the trade name for a 30-percent aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, H₂O₂. A clear, colorless, odorless liquid with a metallic aftertaste, it is used as an oxidizing and bleaching agent in many industries. Dilution of Superoxol yields a 1–3-percent solution of H₂O₂, a disinfectant for medical use. Most H₂O₂ is prepared in the form of Superoxol, which is convenient for transport and is nonexplosive when stored. Stabilizers, usually phosphates and sodium salicylate, are added to Superoxol to reduce the evolution of O₂. Upon contact with the skin, Superoxol causes’a burning sensation and the appearance of white patches, which soon disappear.
