Vasilii Mishin

Mishin, Vasilii Pavlovich

 

Born Jan. 5 (18), 1917, in Orekhovo-Zuevo, Moscow Oblast. Soviet scientist in mechanics, control processes, and the physicotechnical problems of power engineering; academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966; corresponding member, 1958), Hero of Socialist Labor (1956). Became a member of the CPSU in 1943.

After graduating from the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute (1941), Mishin worked in research and design organizations. In 1959 he became a professor at the institute. His main works are concerned with problems of applied mechanics. He was a deputy to the seventh and eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. He received the Lenin Prize in 1957 and has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Star, and medals.
