Boltinskii, Vasilii Nikolaevich

 

Born Dec. 9 (22), 1903, in Astrakhan. Soviet mechanical engineer, academician of the Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VASKhNIL) since 1956; vice-president of VASKhNIL (1968); Honored Scientist and engineer of the RSFSR (1964). Member of the CPSU since 1951.

Boltinskii graduated in 1929 from the department of agricultural mechanics of the K. A. Timiriazev Moscow Agricultural Academy. He has been teaching since 1930 in the Moscow Institute of Agricultural Mechanization and Electrification (now the Moscow Institute of Agricultural Production Engineers). He has made theoretical studies of tractor engines and tractor-accessory combinations. He received a State Prize of the USSR (1952) for his monograph entitled “Operation of the Tractor Engine Under Unstable Load” (1949). He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and medals of the USSR, of the Voronezh Agricultural Exhibition, and of the Exhibition the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR.
