Saarinen, Aarne
Born Dec. 5, 1913, in Degerby, Finland. Figure in the Finnish workers’ movement. Member of the Communist Party of Finland (CPF) since 1944.
Son of a bricklayer, Saarinen was a trade union staff worker from 1945 to 1951. From 1952 to 1954, he was secretary-general of the International Federation of Building and Woodworkers, and from 1954 to 1966, chairman of the construction workers trade union of Finland. In 1966 he became chairman of the CPF. From 1962 to 1970, and again since 1972, Saarinen was a deputy to the Finnish parliament.
