an extinct volcano in Iran on the eastern Armenian Highland. Elevation, 4,821 m. The volcano formed from products of volcanic activity, such as andesites, trachytes, and tuffs. The edges of the ancient crater are dissected by cirques. There is a glacier on the northern slope, a lake at the bottom, and thermal sulfur springs on the southern slope. The peak is covered with snow year-round.
