Seyðisfjörður

(sā`thĭsfyör'thür), town (1993 pop. 879), E Iceland, at the head of the Seyðisfjörður, an arm of the Norwegian Sea. It is a trade center and a fishing port.

Seyđisfjörđur

 

a city and port on the eastern coast of Iceland, at the head of Seydis Fjord. Population, 930 (1974). The city is a center for the fishing and fish-canning industries. During World War II, convoys of Allied ships bound for Murmansk were organized in Seyđisfjörđur.
