Sabouraud-dextrose agar Sabouraud-dextrose agar A non-selective peptone medium for cultivating dermatophytes, and other pathogenic (e.g., C albicans, Trichophyton mentagrophytes) or nonpathogenic fungi. Peptone is supplemented with dextrose antibiotics (e.g., chloramphenicol), and cycloheximide may be added to Sabouraud-dextrose agar to help identify the individual organism. |
