Sachkhere


Sachkhere

 

a city (until 1964, a settlement) and administrative center of Sachkhere Raion, Georgian SSR; located on the Kvirila River, a tributary of the Rioni. Terminus of a 48-km railroad branch from Zestafoni (on the Samtredia-Tbilisi line). Sachkhere has a winery, a cannery, and a brickyard. Near Sachkhere, in the settlement of Skhvitori, there is a museum devoted to the Georgian poet A. Tsereteli.
