Volnogorsk

a city (an urban-type settlement until 1964) in Verkhnedneprovsk Raion, Dnepropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, 5 km from the Vol’nye Khutora railroad station (on the Verkhovtsevo-Piatikhatki line). Population, 19,000 (1970). The city has a mining and metallurgical combine and plants producing reinforced-concrete products and building parts. Vol’nogorsk is the site of a metallurgical technicum.
