Volskii, Anton

Vol’skii, Anton Nikolaevich

 

Born June 12 (24), 1897, in the village of Zalari, now in Irkutsk Oblast; died Jan. 7, 1966, in Moscow. Soviet metallurgist; academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1960; corresponding member in 1953).

Vol’skii graduated from the Moscow Institute of the National Economy in 1924. His main works are on the theory of chemical equilibrium in melts as applied to processes in nonferrous metallurgy. He was awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1949 and 1953), the Lenin Prize, three Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and various medals.
