Bajocian Stage
Bajocian Stage
(named after the town of Bayeux in Normandy, France), the second stage from the bottom in the middle section of the Jurassic system. The index fauna consists of ammonites, such as Stephanoceras hum phiesianum and Cosmoceras subfurcatus. In the USSR, Bajocian deposits are found in the Caucasus, the Crimea, the Volga region, and the Donets Basin; outside the USSR they are found in France, West Germany, Poland, India, and the western part of Australia.
