Bakanas
Bakanas
a river in Semipalatinsk Oblast, Kazakh SSR. The Bakanas River is 240 km long, and its basin has an area of about 25,100 sq km. It rises on the western slopes of the Chingiz-Tau Range and runs dry in the sands of the Balkhash-Alakol’ Depression. The Bakanas is fed primarily by snow. In some years the river dries up. The Bakanas is used for irrigation.
