Bakasir, Ali Ahmad
Born 1910 in Surabaja, Indonesia. Egyptian playwright and writer. Emigrant from Saudi Arabia.
Bakasir has been publishing since 1934 (the social drama The Knight, or In the Capital of the Sands). He is author of more than 30 plays in verse and prose, chiefly historical in content, including Akhnaton and Nefertiti (1940), Ibrahim Pasha, a Fighter for Arab Unity (1945), and The Tragedy of Oedipus (1949). The social comedy Nail of Goha (1952) and the anti-Zionist play New Shylock (1945) deal with modern events in Egypt. Bakasir is the author of the historical novel Life of Shuja.
