Location:Along I-5, about 85 miles north of Sacramento, California.
Facilities:Visitor center (with exhibits, gift shop, and learning center), viewing platforms, hiking trails, auto tour routes.
Activities:Hiking, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:For thousands of years the Sacramento Valley has provided a winter haven for ducks, geese, and swans. Waterfowl migrate here by the millions from as far away as the Arctic regions of Alaska, Canada and Siberia.
Habitats: 10,783 acres of seasonal marsh, permanent ponds, watergrass, and uplands.
Access: Open from sunrise to sunset year round.
Wild life: Fairy shrimp, vernal pool tadpole shrimp, giant garter snake, peregrine falcon, bald eagle, tricolored blackbird, grebe, heron, golden eagle, beaver, muskrat, and black-tailed deer.
