Established: 1989.
Location:North of Sacramento, California.
Facilities:Viewing sites, interpretive panels, hiking trail.
Activities:Hiking, hunting, fishing, wildlife observation.
Special Features:Refuge is composed of 26 properties along a 77-mile stretch of the Sacramento River between the cities of Red Bluff and Princeton.
Habitats: About 10,000 acres of riparian habitat, wetlands, and uplands, with croplands and walnut, almond, and prune orchards.
Access: Currently limited to a portion of the Llano Seco unit: open year round from sunrise to sunset.
Wild life: Migratory songbirds and waterfowl, river otter, turtles, beaver, American pelicans, ospreys, and bank swallows.
