Reflector Lamp
Reflector Lamp
an incandescent lamp in which part of the bulb’s surface has a reflective coating. The bulb is shaped in such a manner that the required light distribution is achieved by reflection from the coating. The inaccurate shape of a bulb made by blowing molten glass restricts the accuracy with which the light distribution curve can be reproduced. In order to eliminate highlights, which are particularly noticeable in illumination at short distances, part of the bulb through which the lamp’s light flux passes is given a frosted finish. Certain special lamps that require a fairly complex light distribution curve are equipped with reflectors.
