Dadashev, Sadykh Alekper ogly
Born Apr. 2 (15), 1905, in Baku; died Dec. 24, 1946, in Moscow. Soviet architect and architectural historian, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (1945), Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR (1940).
Dadashev graduated from the Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute in Baku in 1929, where he subsequently was a professor. His architectural projects (carried out jointly with M. A. Useinov) include the Motion Picture Theater Nizami (1934), the Ministry of the Food Industry (1937–39), the conservatory (1937–39), the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (1938–41), and the Nizami Museum (the 1930’s and 1940’s), all in Baku; and the pavilion of the Azerbaijan SSR at the All-Soviet Agricultural Exhibition in Moscow (1939; State Prize of the USSR, 1941). Dadashev was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and medals.
