Special Features:The most destructive Civil War battle in the state took place here October 8,1862, with morethan 6,000 killed, wounded, or missing. It was the South's last serious attempt to gain possession ofKentucky. The battlefield is one of the most unaltered Civil War sitesin the nation, and a self-guided walking tour interprets battle events.The park's museum features battle relics and battleground maps.
