Time Worked

Time Worked

the time of actual employment of production workers at an enterprise. Indexes of time worked are used to analyze the efficiency with which working time is expended. In the USSR, time worked is measured in man-days and man-hours, as tabulated in timekeeping records. Any day when a worker appears at the enterprise and begins working is considered a man-day worked. Time worked covers all man-days worked, including not only ordinary workdays but holiday overtime, days spent on work-related trips, and days during which workers are used in other jobs because of downtime in the primary job. Man-hours worked, that is, the regular and overtime hours an employee actually works, is a more exact measure of labor, because it does not include long breaks in work, downtime, or lateness. In some cases, actual work time is recorded in minutes, which makes it possible to determine the use of the working day with greater precision.
