Tarasevich, Aleksandr
(monastic name, Antonii). Born circa 1640; died after 1727. Ukrainian engraver of copper.
Tarasevich studied in Augsburg. Beginning in 1688 he worked in the Kiev-Pecherskaia Laura. He created a series of masterfully executed engravings on religious themes, including The Resurrection of Christ, Christ, and The Mother of God (all in the 1680’s). He also executed portraits of Kiprion Klokotskii (1685), Prince V. V. Golitsyn (1693), and others.
