Tarasov, Anatolii Vladimirovich
Born Dec. 10, 1918, in Moscow. Soviet athlete; a pioneer of Soviet ice hockey. Honored Master of Sports (1949) and Honored Trainer of the USSR (1957). Candidate of pedagogical sciences; colonel in the armed forces. Member of the CPSU since 1945.
From 1948 to 1972, Tarasov was the coach of the USSR’s national ice hockey team. From 1947 to 1973 he was the senior coach of the Central Army Sports Club ice hockey team, which won the USSR Championship 18 times during this period. Over the years, he has coached about 30 repeated Olympic and world champions.
Tarasov has been awarded five orders and various medals.
