Persimfans

(First Symphony Ensemble of the Moscow City Soviet), a symphony orchestra without a conductor, founded in 1922 by L. M. Tseitlin, a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. The orchestra existed until 1932.

In 1927, Persimfans was recognized as an Honored Ensemble of the Republic. Its members included soloists from the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR and professors and students from the orchestra department of the Moscow Conservatory. Persimfans’ chief principle was that each of its members participate actively in the orchestra’s performances. The extensive repertoire included classics of Russian and foreign music. The work of Persimfans, a first-rate ensemble, played an important role in the development of Soviet orchestral performances.
