Proliferous Buds

(1) In angiosperms, proliferous buds are those that can break off the maternal organism and form new plants; in many cases they form in the leaf axils, but they sometimes form on the leaves as well.

(2) In thallus plants, proliferous buds are single-celled or multicelled formations that reproduce vegetatively.
