 [pro-lim´fo-sīt] a cell of the lymphocytic series intermediate between the lymphoblast and the lymphocyte.

Hematology A large lymphocyte- 'wannabe' not normally found in the peripheral circulation which has a high–5:1 to 3:1–N:C ratio; the centrally placed, round, ovoid or slightly indented nucleus has minimal coarse chromatin clumps along the margin, indistinct parachromatin, a large, round bluish nucleolus; organelles are indistinct; cytoplasm is medium to deep homogeneous blue and greater in prolymphocytes than in lymphoblasts or mature lymphocytes.
