Named after George IV’s Regency and reign (1811–30), it extended either side through the pattern books of Sheraton, Hope, and George Smith (active 1804–28). “Grecian” archbacked chairs with scroll arms and saber legs best exemplify the style’s elegance. The sofa table was a Regency innovation. Decoration included the acanthus, dolphin, and brass inlay.
