target seeker

[′tär·gət ‚sēk·ər] (ordnance) A missile having a self-contained system that provides homing guidance to the target. Also known as homer. The device within such a missile that directs it to the target.

target seeker

i. A device installed in a missile or a bomb that directs it to the target. Such seekers may be radar, IR (infrared), laser, TV (television), or other electro-and/or optical devices. See heat-seeker.
ii. The missile guided to its target by a seeker.
