ventricular fibrillation type 2

ventricular fibrillation type 2

A cardiac arrhythmia disorder (OMIM:612956) characterised by fibrillary ventricular discharges, due to rapid repetitive excitation of myocardial fibres without co-ordinated contraction of the ventricle, as well as by absence of atrial activity.
Molecular pathology
Defects in DPP6, which encodes a protein that binds voltage-gated potassium channels, altering their expression and biophysical properties, cause ventricular fibrillation type 2.
