a journal of the Central Committee, Moscow Oblast Committee, and Moscow City Committee of the ACP(B), published twice a month from 1927 to 1930 and from 1933 to 1946. Beginning in March 1931, the journal Derevenskii propagandist (The Village Propagandist) was published separately. From issue no. 14 (1930–31) to issue no. 8 (1933), Propagandist bore the title Propagandist dlia goroda (Propagandist for the City).

Propagandist published important resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, Moscow Oblast Committee, and Moscow City Committee of the ACP(B), as well as programs and instructions on methodology for various areas of party educational work. It also summarized and disseminated party educational and mass propaganda experience. The journal printed advice for propagandists on current sociopolitical problems and party politics, as well as book reviews and listings of new publications in the social sciences. Circulation, 200,000 (1946).
