perspective projections perspective projectionsA typical perspective grid superimposed on a photograph. In the above perspective projection, the light source is at north pole; it projects the meridians and parallels onto a plane tangential at the south pole. The projections in which the shadows cast by the meridians and the parallels of latitude of a transparent model of the earth are drawn onto a plane surface. When the relationship is such that simple nongeometric construction is impossible, a nonperspective projection is used. The majority of map projections are nonperspective. |
