Sogdians

an ancient Eastern Iranian people of Middle Asia and Kazakhstan who lived in Sogdiana beginning about 500 B.C. The Sogdians, whose ancestors were nomadic and settled Saka tribes, are among the ancestors of the contemporary Tadzhiks and Uzbeks.
