In tin plating used to coat cookware and similar items, the content of undesirable impurities (Pb, As) must be minimal. For cookware, the amounts tolerated are usually < 0.25 percent Pb (by weight) and ≤0.015 percent As; for food cans, ≤0.025 percent Pb and ≤ 0.01 As.
